It all started with a seasonal flu, something many of us may have thought at the beginning of the pandemic. However, after a few weeks of the China Corona Virus Alarm, Italy was hit hard, and our world changed drastically. Our family and friends around the globe were all listening to the scary news, and we found ourselves in a deep lockdown with our daily routines and habits disrupted.
For me, March 9th, 2020 was the day that everything changed. Suddenly, everything familiar was far away, and hospitals in Italy were struggling to care for Corona Virus patients while also addressing the needs of those with Rheumatic Diseases like myself. Despite the challenges, I was fortunate enough to have a rheumatologist and family doctor who were always available to address my concerns.
